Krea AI Review 2024 – Generate Realistic Images in Real Time

If you’ve just started using AI art generation, Krea AI will blow your mind. Give it a prompt and it will instantly create hyperrealistic art. And you can see its magic working in real-time.

You may ask, “Yeah, but how is it different from other generative AI tools, like Midjourney?” The answer is that Krea works in real-time. You enter a prompt and your image is generated right there and then. Add something to the prompt to make it longer and the image is modified right before your eyes – there’s no waiting time.

You can upload an image or share a screen with Krea. Or you can use your camera to click a photo to use in your art. While the default style is realistic, you can also select cartoon or other styles.

And the best part is that you can add shapes and doodles on the screen and Krea will automatically make sense of them. It’s something you have to experience to understand.

Intrigued? I certainly was when I got to know about it. Krea will bring out your creative side. Let’s explore more.

What is Krea AI?

Krea AI is an image and video generation and editing tool. It can upscale and enhance images and generate videos. It can also upscale videos and add clarity to them. However, what impresses me the most about Krea is its real time AI generation.

If you’ve worked with other image generation tools, you know how it is – you give a prompt and the AI delivers the result. Then according to the missing elements, you tweak the prompt and generate more images until you arrive at the perfect result.

With Krea, the AI bot will generate images as soon as you start typing. So you can see right there and then if you like the generated image. You can change your prompt accordingly to get the right output.

Don’t get me wrong, the video generation and editing is impressive as well but I’ve seen that before. I’m new to the real time image generation thing and this is why I find it the most exciting.

Pros 👍

  • Generates images in real time based on the prompts you provide
  • Lets you add shapes and doodles to the image
  • Easily enhances and upscales images
  • Generates and enhances videos
  • Free plan available
  • Active community on Discord
  • Offers mini apps such as Logo illusions and AI patterns

Best Features of Krea AI

Krea AI is pretty addictive and can keep you engaged for hours. It’s fun to see the AI come up with different images based on your prompts or shapes and doodles. And that’s not all, it also lets you generate videos based on your prompts. Let’s see some of the most prominent features of Krea AI.

Real time image generation

Krea gives you an image to begin with. While it may take a few minutes to get used to its interface, the developers have tried to make it as easy as possible.

You’ll find different controls such as styles, AI strength, prompt, etc. in the editor. Once you’ve generated the image, you can download it or send it for enhancement. This might take a few minutes.

Image enhancement and upscaling

Krea lets you enhance and upscale your images. You can enhance your images or videos. Or you can upscale the image generated by Krea. You can upscale to up to 8x the original size.

It lets you pick AI strength, resemblance, and clarity. You can also give a prompt and a negative prompt (if you don’t want certain elements in your image).

Video generation

Krea offers open access to its Video Beta which can generate videos for you. You can upload images and animate them with AI. You can also give text prompts to generate the video.

It gives you the option to change the video duration and use different text prompts in the video timeline. It also lets you move keyframes to customize the video.

Mini and Legacy Apps

Apart from the three main apps, Krea also has some mini and legacy apps. You can use Logo Illusions to generate scenery from any logo. It also offers AI Patterns that turn random patterns into sceneries.

The two legacy apps are AI Training and Studio Canvas. AI Training lets you train AI with your own dataset. Studio Canvas is like any other AI image generative tool.

Discord Community

When a software or service has a thriving community, you can connect with other people. I joined the community and found that there are thousands of users online at any given time so it’s fun to be there and share your artwork.

The Discord community of Krea has AI enthusiasts, creatives, and professionals. Members engage in lively discussions about AI-driven content creation, sharing insights, tips, and best practices. It also has a welcoming atmosphere for newcomers with plenty of resources to help them get started.

How to Use Krea AI

Let’s begin with the fun part. Here’s how you can use Krea AI.

Step 1. Register on the website

Open Krea.ai on your browser and click on Sign Up.

You can register using your email or Google account. Once you have registered, you can choose what you want to do. I’ll generate real-time images for this example.

Step 2. Click on Generate Images.

Click on the first option given on the home page to generate AI images in real time.

Step 3. Play with the control panel.

You’ll see the control panel open up in front of you.

If you haven’t used Krea AI before, it might seem confusing at first glance. Let me explain.

The left panel is where you’ll make changes and the right panel is where those changes will reflect. Notice a prompt box at the bottom. You can enter any prompt there and the second image will change accordingly.

Let me enter “a vibrant city scene with moon” and move the circle and square shapes around to see what happens.

Notice how the AI has used my shapes to fit properly into the scenery? As you enter the prompt and move the shapes around, you’ll see the output will change with each little movement you make.

Let’s try adding a doodle to this scenery.

Select the paintbrush.

I tried doodling broccoli (I actually tried making a tree but let’s just call it broccoli) and the AI instantly transformed it into a ship in the water.

Not bad. Depending on your creativity and drawing skills, you can make the AI generate whatever you want.

What else you can do

You can change the style of your image. You’ll find all the styles on the right side of the page.

Let’s select the cartoon style to see the output.

It created an entirely different image but it still fit all the elements nicely in it. My broccoli is now a car.

Check out the AI strength slider in the center of the screen.

I feel that AI hallucinates the best when the slider is all the way to the right. However, feel free to play with it and check the results.

Once you’re happy with what you’ve generated, click on the Download button.

Now you can save the generated image.

Pricing

There are four subscription plans.

  • Free for $0
  • Basic for $10/month
  • Pro for $35/month
  • Max for $60/month

The Free plan will let you generate AI images in real time. However, it will not upscale or enhance your images or videos. Also, it won’t let you generate videos or train AI on your dataset. For all these features, you’ll need to upgrade to at least the Basic plan.

With the Basic plan, you can generate about 36,000 real time images per month. While this may seem like a lot, it’s not, because every time you make a change (move a shape or draw a doodle, etc.), the AI generates a fresh image for you.

User Experience

I visited Trustpilot to see what other users feel about Krea. I was disappointed to see there were not many reviews here. I guess Krea isn’t that well-known right now. I think what Krea offers is revolutionary and highly addictive.

My own user experience has been positive with Krea AI. Of course, the generated images are not always accurate. You might move a shape and the AI bot may not be able to fit it properly in the output. But it’s still good.

Is Krea AI Worth It?

Krea is definitely worth your time. You don’t even have to pay anything to try it out. Simply head to the image generation web app and start generating images for free. The free plan doesn’t ask for your credit card details.

And if you like it, you can upgrade to the Basic plan to generate videos and upscale your images. Its image upscaling and enhancement features are also amazing. It adds clarity and sharpness to images and transforms old and blurred photos into vivid and detailed memories.

Krea can also enhance and upscale your videos and you can access all these features for just $10/month so yes, I think Krea AI is certainly worth it.

Krea AI Alternatives

Krea AI is not the only tool that offers real time AI image generation. Here are some other tools that offer similar services.

Getimg

Getimg can generate real time images, pretty much like Krea. Apart from real time image generation, it has an entire suite of AI image and video editing tools. However, it’s more fun in Krea since you can also add shapes and doodles. Getimg, on the other hand, offers just a prompt box.

Getimg also offers a free plan and is easy to use but Krea’s interface is cleaner. With Getimg, you’ll get an image editor that’s not available on Krea. The Basic plan of Getimg starts at $12/month.

If you want to have fun generating real time images, Krea will be a better option. But if you want image editing tools along with other services, Getimg will be a better choice for you.

Clipdrop

Clipdrop is an offering by Jasper. You might have heard about Jasper – It’s a popular service offering a suite of AI solutions for businesses. Clipdrop offers many services – real time image generation, text generation, background removal, image upscaling, and others.

Just like Getimg, Clipdrop offers just a prompt box to generate images. You cannot add your own doodles to the images you generate. It does let you generate images from doodles but that’s a separate feature and your images will not be in real time.

There’s no free trial for Clipdrop and you have to subscribe to use its services. The monthly price for Clipdrop is $15, which is by far the most expensive of all real time image generators I have seen. However, it offers more services than Krea so it is worth the price.

Meta AI

Meta AI offers a conversational AI bot along with real time image generation. You can talk to it like you would with ChatGPT. To generate images, click on the Imagine button and ask it to image the image you want to generate.

Just like Getimg and Clipdrop, Meta will give you a prompt box and the image will keep changing depending on what you type in it. Krea is probably the only tool that will let you play with the image by adding shapes and doodles.

Once you’ve generated images on Meta, you can also animate them. The image will be transformed into a 2-second clip, which is fun. Meta is free to use but you need to have a Facebook account to use it.

Conclusion

Krea is a unique tool that lets you generate and edit images and videos. It’s mainly popular because of its real time image generation that also lets you play around by adding shapes and doodles to your images.

It also lets you upload images and select a generative style. I’ve tested many other real time image generation tools but I’ve found Krea to be the best.

It also offers image enhancing and upscaling so you can unblur your old photos. You can generate videos with Krea as well. All in all, Krea is a good tool that offers many powerful features.

Plus, the fact that it provides a free plan makes it all the more enticing. I would definitely recommend using it once to see what it offers.

  1. A refreshing read, thanks. Although it doesn’t always follow the doodle. I once made a doodle and it did not show in the result. But it’s definitely a good thing. Instant output and everything. The ai technology is like magic.
