Ten years ago, if someone had told me that one day AI would be helping me write better content, faster, on a daily basis – I would have laughed. Oh, how the times have changed.
These days, I use artificial intelligence for everything from research, to brainstorming, and even search engine optimization.
That means I’m constantly on the lookout for the most effective tools – like ContentShake and Jasper, for instance.
Both of these tools are great AI writing assistants in their own way – but they focus on slightly different challenges.
ContentShake is all about helping you get your content ready for the search engines, find ideas quickly, and publish content at scale.
Jasper is a bit more versatile, giving users a comprehensive toolkit of content generation tools, flexible style guides, and even a handy chatbot.
So, which is best?
Let’s find out.
My Quick Verdict, Pros and Cons
Overall, if you’re looking for a simple, SEO-driven content creation tool that makes blogging and social media marketing simple, ContentShake is probably your best bet.
Its guided approach, integrated keyword research, and one-click publishing make it a fantastic option for businesses and marketers focused on ranking high on search engines. It’s particularly good if you already use SEMRush for keyword research (like me).
On the other hand, if you want a more versatile AI writing tool, that can handle everything from creating brand style-guides, to producing art, emails, and reports, Jasper is probably a better choice.
It’s packed with customization options, AI-powered creativity, and workflow automation, making it a go-to for marketers, agencies, and teams working across multiple content formats.

ContentShake vs Jasper: The Basics
Ok, so at a glance, ContentShake and Jasper might seem pretty similar.
Like most AI writing tools, they both give you solutions for creating various types of high-quality content. They can both help you generate ideas for content, and they can both optimize existing assets for you.
They also both have SEO capabilities.
Jasper can instantly infuse your content with keywords – spreading them naturally throughout your articles and posts.
ContentShake does have a slight edge in this area though – as it can help with keyword research through integrations with SEMRush.

That’s where the real differences between ContentShake and Jasper really begin in my opinion.
Since ContentShake was developed by SEMRush (a leader in the SEO space), it’s heavily focused on helping you identify, and create content that will rank high on the search engine result pages.
Yes, it also has tools to help you create brand voices, and social media posts – but SEO writing is where ContentShake really shines.
Jasper is a more versatile “multi-faceted” content generation tool. You can use it to create high quality art (although ContentShake does support AI image generation), long-form and short-form articles, reports, case studies, brand guides – and virtually anything else you can think of.
To make this comparison as simple as possible, I’m going to focus on three core areas:
- Content creation
- Content optimization
- Brand development
ContentShake vs. Jasper: Content Creation Tools
Let’s start with the area where Jasper really packs the biggest punch.
Jasper ultimately gives you the tools to create any kind of content you can imagine. In fact, there’s a complete “app suite” available from Jasper, with pre-built templates and tools for more than 90 different types of content.

You can produce blogs, reviews, email sequences, product page descriptions, social media posts, press releases, display ads, scripts – the list goes on.
You’ll also be able to create that content in more than 80 different languages (in comparison, ContentShake only supports 7 languages).
However, it’s worth noting that I have seen Jasper struggle with translation in some areas.
Beyond that, Jasper has stronger visual content creation tools. The AI image suite makes it easy for anyone to create stunning, branded visuals in seconds.
You even get access to editing tools to replace and remove backgrounds, or upscale your visuals.

ContentShake can create basic images – but you don’t get a lot of editing options built-in.
On the plus side, ContentShake does excel at creating various forms of SEO-optimized content, such as blogs, and articles.
It’s also brilliant at helping you to brainstorm ideas for topics, and can generate outlines, introductions, headers, and sub headers for articles in seconds.
However, if you want to go beyond SEO articles with ContentShake, your options are limited. You can create social media posts and detailed content briefs, but that’s about it.
ContentShake vs. Jasper: Content Optimization
Now, let’s take a look at ContentShake for a moment. While it doesn’t give you as options for the types of content you can create, ContentShake does excel at optimizing and editing your content – particularly for SEO purposes.
One feature I particularly love is the “real-time optimization score”, which shows you – as you write, how likely your content is to rank for specific keywords.
The platform also offers one-click rewriting capabilities, enabling users to enhance sections of text for better engagement and readability.
There’s an integrated AI chat feature allows for the expansion of content, ensuring comprehensive coverage of topics.
Additionally, ContentShake offers a Chrome browser extension, enabling users to optimize and create content directly on any website, ensuring consistency across platforms.

Plus, since ContentShake integrates with SEMRush, you can pull all of your SEO research into the flow of work while you’re creating.
While Jasper does offer SEO features, it mainly allows users to seamlessly embed keywords into content.
There are no advanced “keyword research” tools (you’ll need an integration with something like SurferSEO for that). From an optimization perspective, Jasper focuses on maintaining content quality and authenticity.
There’s an integrated plagiarism checker powered by Copyscape, ensuring the originality of the generated content. For those looking to enrich their writing,
Jasper offers a sentence expansion feature, transforming brief statements into more elaborate and engaging narratives.
You can also ask Jasper for help cleaning up spelling and grammatical issues, creating compelling headlines, and adjusting content to suit different audiences.
ContentShake vs Jasper: Branding and Marketing Features
One thing I love about both ContentShake and Jasper, is that they give you tools that help you to enhance, and maintain your brand voice across channels.
ContentShake’s features are a little more simplistic here. You can generate brand voices based on writing samples, and the platform can suggest target personas to help you tailor your content to different audiences.

You can also create your own user personas too.
Jasper offers a more comprehensive marketing and branding toolkit. You can configure a custom brand voice, with the help of Jasper’s AI tools, and use it whenever you create content.
You’ll also be able to design your own style guides, with language and formatting rules.
Plus, you can create a bunch of tools for your team members too, like visual guidelines, Marketing IQ reports, company knowledgebases, and more.
Ultimately, if you’re looking for a comprehensive suite of tools to keep all of your brand assets on the same page, Jasper is a lot more powerful.
As an added bonus, Jasper also comes with its own intuitive “workflow automation” tools, that help you to streamline tasks across marketing workflows.
Although ContentShake integrates with various website builders and publication tools (as well as SEMRush), it doesn’t offer the same advanced automation features for marketing teams.
Ease of Use and Security
Let’s be honest, all AI writing tools are supposed to be user-friendly, but some are more attuned to beginners than others.
I personally found ContentShake to be incredibly user-friendly. That’s not just because I have experience using SEMRush either.
You don’t really need to know how to use SEMRush to experiment with ContentShake – unless you want to start combining the two platforms. Anyone can use this platform, regardless of how much experience you have with digital marketing.
Jasper is also an incredibly intuitive tool – but it takes a little more time to get everything setup.
There are more features to explore, and you’ll need to spend time creating style guides, brand voices, and adding “apps” to create specific types of content.
Once you’ve gotten all of that ironed out – you should have a pretty straightforward experience.
Still, the array of templates and tools can initially be overwhelming. One thing I did want to give Jasper a shout out for – however, is it’s approach to security.
Jasper’s platform includes enterprise-grade encryption and data privacy measures, ensuring that user data and outputs are never used to train Jasper or third-party language models.
Additionally, Jasper is compliant with several industry standards, including SOC2, PCI DSS, CCPA, and GDPR, making it a trustworthy choice for businesses of all sizes.

Specific information regarding ContentShake AI’s security protocols is less prominently promoted online.
However, given that it’s a product of SEMrush – a reputable entity in the digital marketing space- I assume there are some safety measures in place.
ContentShake vs Jasper: Pricing
Before I leave you with my final thoughts, we have one last thing to discuss: pricing.
Starting with ContentShake, there is a free version of this app available, which gives you access to 25 new content ideas per week, SEO-friendly briefs and articles, rewrite features, content composing tools, and one-click WordPress publishing.
To unlock all the features, you’ll need to upgrade to the “Unlimited” plan – which costs $60 per month.

This comes with unlimited standard articles, 5-SEO boosted articles a month (or you can get 10 more for an extra $30), and a host of extra features. You also get up to 50 brand voices per account, AI image generation, and social media content generation tools.
Jasper’s pricing structure is a little more complex. First, there’s no free plan, although you can request a free demo. The paid plans include:
- Creator: $49 per month/seat: 1 brand voice, access to Jasper Chat, SEO mode, and a browser extension – plus all the basic features of Jasper.
- Pro: $69 per month/seat: All the features of Creator, plus support for 5 users, 3 brand voices, 10 knowledge assets, 3 instant campaigns, collaboration and user management tools, and AI image generation (plus image editing).
- Business: Custom pricing: All the Pro features, plus unlimited feature usage, custom workflows and apps, custom style guides, group collaboration, enterprise-grade security and governance, advanced permissions, and enhanced support.
Quick tip: There’s a 20% discount available for Jasper’s plans if you pay annually:

The Verdict: Which Is Better?
Ultimately, it’s difficult to really rank one of these tools over the other – because they both serve very different purposes.
ContentShake is one of my favorite tools for enhancing SEO-focused writing workflows. It’s easy to use, reasonably affordable, and great for keyword and topic research.
Jasper, on the other hand, is the far more versatile platform, allowing users to create a wider range of content, with exceptional speed and precision.
It has a slightly higher learning curve – but it could potentially save you a lot more time if you create a wide range of content. Plus, it’s brand and marketing management features are top-notch.
In the end, the decision comes down to what you really need from a writing assistant.
If you want a tool with a strong focus on SEO, ContentShake is a great choice. If you want something more flexible and feature-rich, consider Jasper.
