I studied journalism in high school, but it wasn’t until I was using the “News From Home” lens by Jimena Depresbiteris, known on Snapchat as Shimenta, that I got to do my own broadcast.
Along with neon filters and festival inspired wear, she offers a range of funny and interactive lenses that let you share your own creativity with friends. A passionate lover of AR, I learned a bit more from the Italy-based creator.

Making lenses is a difficult endeavor, but for Shawn there’s another layer: he’s colorblind. The young creator has already made a number of lenses that allow users to see the world the way he does.
On top of a solar system themed series of lenses, he’s created a number of fun, subtle filters. I chatted with the creator to learn more.
The journey to AR filters wasn’t easy for Paris-born Rocha, but the creator, who studied Art History at the Sorbonne University, is making the most of it. Now making filters for clients and for pleasure, the former makeup artist is making waves in filter innovation. I learned more about the artist and the story behind her incredible, fun, and surreal filters.
Jonah Cohn doesn’t think Snapchat is going anywhere. One of the his so called “forever apps,” Snapchat has been part of the student’s life since 2013. Cohn must have found an endless supply of coffee because he’s not only a student, but a prodigious lens creator who’s active online in many digital creative circles.
I’d be tired making just one lens every few months, but he seems to churn them out one after the other — each one better than the last! Thankfully, Cohn had time to answer a few questions about his work so that we could learn more.
